Decalcomanias

I love the vibrant colours you can get with this method.

Decalcomania is a technique in which you put some liquid colours (like ink or liquid watercolours e.g. Ecoline) on a smooth surface as for example a glass plate.

In the next step you put a paper on top of you coloured glass plate and press it a little bit. It works best with paper that is glossy or very smooth at the surface like bristol paper.

Then you carefully take the paper off the plate and the wet colour is now transferred to the paper.

At this point, when you take it off the glass, you can influence your result a little bit by moving the paper before you actually take it off.

Still there remains always room for surprising effects and every decalcomania will be unique.

It is actually a very easy technique that can be a lot of fun also for kids.
